"I love the practice of dermatology.  It's a unique mix between medical, surgical, and cosmetic concerns.  Dermatology is also a great field because you can see most of the problems with your eyes.  For this reason it is a great way for patients to become an integral part in their own medical care.  Everyone should be doing monthly self skin exams and should they find something that they are concerned about, something that has grown or changed, they should come in for evaluation.  I would rather have someone come in and find out that what they have is a normal skin finding rather than wait and let a cancer grow because they are unsure they should come in."
